Colossians 1:27
Christ in you, the hope of glory
NIV

We know that one of the things God has called each and every one of us to do is make disciples. The only way to really do that is to engage the world around us. I know that this may seem like an overwhelming prospect considering our limited resources and talents. However, God did not leave that up to us, He has given us everything we need to be successful and productive in reaching the world. He has done this by pouring out His Holy Spirit upon all men and women. This is why we can say, “Christ in me, the hope of glory.”

At Angle Lake Neighborhood Church it is paramount that we take this commission very seriously and use the Holy resources and talents that God has given us to reach or touch the world around us. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit was given so that He could partner with us to go out from the four walls of the church building and invade the world. Christ in Me Ministry is that platform ALNC will use to encourage and help people engage their world.

Starting in January 2012 we will be asking every person who calls ALNC home to commit to volunteering in the community and investing in the community; as an example 50/50. We would ask that you commit for 2012, 50 hours of community service and $50.00 of financial invest in the community. Now you don’t have to commit to 50/50, you might decide to do 5/5,000 and this is fine. It is just important that we reach out to the world around us.

Below you will find a list of volunteer opportunities. Click here to view or print a time/fund tracker that we will ask you to fill out and turn in on a monthly basis. You do not have to put your name on the sheet unless you desire to do so.

God bless you as you reach out to the community with the message that Jesus saves.

Blessings
Pastor John Kilough

World Challenge was founded by David Wilkerson and currently being led by Gary Wilkerson.

I wanted to share this link with our body so that others could support the ministry as they desire. It is very important that we stay involved in helping people not only locally but around the world. I hope you enjoy the website as it will explain how you can be a part in helping to feed the hungry.

On Sunday October 9, 2011 we will be having a special service
“The Day The Walls Moved” at our 10:30am Celebration Service.

We are asking that each family bring a hammer, a felt tip pen and have a scripture verse that your family has prayed about and claimed as their own for the day. We know and have felt for some time that God is doing something special in our church. There is excitement about the growth taken place at ALNC and we desire to celebrate that by symbolically expanding the walls of church to accommodate the current growth and the expected growth for the years to come.

So join us for the special service as we expect God to do amazing things!

1 Chron 4:9-10

9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
This soft spoken but passionate man is such a pleasure to know. Gerson came to us from Africa as a refugee and has written his story in a book entitled, “Through the Valley: The Journey of an African Refugee”. I highly recommend this book for your reading. It will give you a great appreciation for those who are in the United States as refugees and it will give you a better understanding of those who are seated next to you.

Perhaps this is the greatest aspect of the book, getting to know your neighbor and understanding where they have been and where they are going. Listen to the voice of my friend, “My mind was raped, and my memory impregnated, by the civil wars that devastated all aspects of social life in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. This book is the baby that was born from that pregnancy. My personal experiences during the civil wars will reveal to you how God is an amazing, trustworthy God. His will is not ours; he does whatever he wants, for he is God, the Creator and owner of the heavens and earth and all creatures.”

The book starts off by covering the political and cultural issues of Gerson’s homeland. Do not let this history lesson keep you from discovering the richness of Gerson’s personal testimony of escape from the hands of death.
